Ten Prokashoni in Bangladesh for Classic Bookworms

Ever wonder what will happen  if there are no books in your vicinity? Well, you might turn to PDF for help, but aren’t you going to miss that strong smell of freshly printed books, that ink smell, or that oddly gratifying aroma of an old book? If you are a bookworm, these things can give the appearance of the Elysian Fields!

Imagine, after a long day, you had a cold shower, brewed yourself a cup of coffee, and took an aesthetic brainchild of your treasured author. Heaven, it is!

Now, there might be a chance you can find your favorite author’s book among the publication we picked for you. These are the top ten procashoni in Bangladesh, which choose their publication-writer carefully and give you a great choice of books to read!

With their name, it can be said that they are unique! Based in their Chittagong office, anannya prokashoni has published best-seller writings from Imdadul Haq Milan, Touheedur Rahman, Dr. Mohammad Ejaz Hossain, Serajul Islam Choudhury, e.t.c. Needless to say that you will have a great time after choosing their genre of books? From critique to fiction, they have it all!

Just because a book is written does not make it publishable. Therefore, just as the writer needs preparation, the publisher also requires a clear understanding of the matter. Well, Somoy really used their 'Somoy, the time!' while publishing their masterclass books, for example- Banking: Developed World's Perspective- a classic book by Nironjon Roy, or books of Selina Hossain, Anisul Hoque, Muhammed Zafar Iqbal, Shawkat Osman-the gems of Bangladesh.

They brought together traditional Bengali literature with contemporary literature. While preferring books on war, history, and civilization, this publication also published books with math, science fiction, and environmental roles.

'Somoy Prokashon' regularly publishes rare works by reputed, established authors. 'Samya Prakashan' is a trendsetter in publishing works by patriotic and youthful writers, releasing over a thousand books. Cal for books now!

Oitijjhya was founded in 2000 to release books on miscellaneous topics.

Arifur Rahman Nayeem, the publisher of Oitijjhya, has been giving young authors opportunities to pursue their dreams as writers. Oitijjhya has published around 850 books to date. This includes 'Rachonaboli' by well-known writers such as Rabindranath Tagore and others. Shantanu Kaiser, Ismat Chughtai (one of the greatest Urdu orators of the 20th century. The deprived life of women, love, female sexuality and class conflict are the subjects of her stories. Oracle to highlight her time in the art of writing.), and many other classic author's books are published here.

Sheba Prokashoni is the name of a hundred of thousand’s youth. Their adventure began with the Kuasha series. One thing is true-to-life: mystery stories are popular among teenagers, not only for Bangladeshi teens but in every country on the planet. Kuasha-1 was released in June 1964 for the sole purpose of entertaining teenagers. Because of the popularity of this book, Sheba was propelled to publish novels one after the other.

Qazi Anwar Hussain thrilled us with Masud Rana, and Rakib Hasan vivified us with Tin Goyenda. If you are new to the Sheba journey, you will be envied by thousands of old Sheba readers because you will have quite a journey of experience ahead of you!

A few decades ago, Syed Mujtaba Ali said, "No one becomes bankrupt by buying books (Boi kine keu deuliya hoy na)." It is true, but after buying a book, you let someone else take it, and that person does not return it (sometimes they just choose to forget!); it often happens in our lives. And with the book of Bishwo Shahitto Kendro? It often (definitely!) happens. It is no longer just an institution but rather a nationwide movement today.  It worships world literature. Their slogan literally talks about their dream- ‘Alokito Manush Chai (আলোকিত মানুষ চাই)’

Abdullah Abu Sayeed, the founder of Bishwo Shahitto Kendro, wanted students to dream big, quotes 'Manush tar swapner soman boro! (মানুষ তার স্বপ্নের সমান বড়!)' And went to publishing translations of classic, best-seller, wholesome writings of different country's authors. Ishwar Chandra Gupta, Sanjib Chandra Chattopadhyay, Balai Chand Mukhopadhyay, Sanjib Chattopadhyay, Syed Mujtaba Ali, Bani Basu, Upendrakishore Ray Chowdhury- Bishwo Shahitto Kendro taught us what to read!

Anyaprokash and Humayun Ahmed- it was like the opposite side of the coin.

Bookworms are browsing through the novels of Humayun Ahmed in front of the 'Anyaprokash' stall at the month-long Ekushey Book Fair - this was pretty common till July 19, 2012.

But it is still not uncommon to see the above picture now.

Since its advent, Anyaprokash has shown relentless efforts to improve publishing, apply modern marketing methods, and establish professional relationships between publishers and writers. As hard work pays off, civil society has regarded it as a prestigious publishing house, including writers, readers, and booksellers. Almost all of the country's finest writers have chosen Anyaprokash as their publisher. Many Kolkata-based authors have also had their works published here. Syed Manzoorul Islam, Nirmalendu Goon, Harun-or-Rashid, Sadat Hossain, Sunil Gangopadhyay - Anyaprokash has it all to teach you how to read!

An 'Agamee Prakashani' of the country's leading publishing houses. Just like it’s name, this publication house is for next generation, to let them know about our pride, our spirited fighters of 1971, and our liberation war

In 1986, Osman Gani established the following publishing house. The publishing house became popular in a short time for publishing many books based on the independence war of Bangladesh organized in 1971. Most publications on the Great War of Liberation. So far, the number of books published in the future is more than 2000 thousand. Leading exporter of Bengali books. Agamee Prakashani books are available in Kolkata, USA, UK, etc.

The Empire of books in Bangladesh is 'Batighar.'

This Swargasam Bookshop is a beacon of books for students in the three central districts of Bangladesh, Dhaka, Chittagong, and Sylhet. Started it's magical journey in 2005 in a small shop of 100 square feet at Cheragi Mor, Chittagong. The bookstore quickly gained vogue as a favorite hangout of artists and writers. After seven years, the new address is on the ground floor of Chittagong Press Club. The 2,000 square feet bookstore was designed by artist Shahinur Rahman in the shape of a ship. Soothing, yellow light invites the reader to enter through the gate. The wooden floor, round windows like a ship, and hanging ropes like a ship may make the reader think that he has suddenly arrived on an ancient ship, filled to the brim with various kinds. Literary works of writers from near and far countries will welcome you by raising both hands!

At present, Annesha Prokashon is publishing diverse books on different subjects of  Bangla literature (stories, novels, poems, essays, research, liberation war, language movement, translation literature, and science). These can meet the needs of different classes of readers. They are also publishing "community" books to provide various textbooks, especially to undergraduate and postgraduate students, according to their needs.

Annesha Prokashon has been giving opportunities to young writers to publish their books yearly at the Ekushe Book Fair. So that one day, the future charioteers of our literature will come out of the new writers.

Tamrolipi Prokashoni is a well-known name in the Bangladeshi publishing sector, particularly for its publications of Muhammad Zafar Iqbal's stories, novels, and science fiction (Keplar 22B, Rashad, Shukno Phool Rongin Phool, Joloj and Obonil).

Other books launched by Tamrolipi include Anisul Hoque, Ahsan Habib, and Rakib Hasan.

A word to the wise is enough! Happy reading!
