Originally established as the 'Ramana Preparatory School' within the Ramana Gymkhana, the school underwent a transformation in 1952 when it was officially inaugurated as Vikarunnisa Noon School by Begum Vikarunnisa Noon, wife of the then Governor of East Pakistan. Over the years, the school has evolved and expanded, offering both Bengali and English medium education from primary to higher secondary levels.

In 1978, Vikarunnisa Noon School was elevated to a higher secondary level, marking a significant milestone in its educational journey. The school's commitment to female education led to the establishment of branches in Dhanmondi, Prabhati, and Vaikali, catering to the growing demand for quality education among female students.The year 2000 witnessed further expansion with the introduction of English medium education, starting from the sixth standard and gradually extending to higher secondary levels.
