The Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh enacted 'Sustainable and Renewable Energy Development Authority' (SREDA) Act-2012 to reduce global warming, environmental hazard risk and to ensure energy security by reducing dependency on fossil fuel through the use and expansion of Renewable Energy. The Authority also aims at preventing energy waste in residential, commercial & industrial sectors by saving and conserving energy as well as ensuring its efficient use. SREDA has started its journey in 22nd May 2014 at ‘Bidyut Bhaban’, 1, Abdul Goni Road, Dhaka. Presently, SREDA office is located in a spacious and modern office space at 9th & 10th floor, IEB Bhaban, Ramna, Dhaka. An Environment friendly and energy efficient proposed SREDA Bhaban is under the process of construction at Sher-E-Bangla Nagar Administrative Area.
