Established in 1997, SPI was the pioneer in setting up Bangladesh's first independent power plant, and today it stands as the largest Independent Power Producer (IPP) in the country, contributing 17% of Bangladesh’s total private installed capacity and 7% of the country's total installed capacity.
SPI operates a total of 18 power plants with a combined capacity of 2,255 MW, and an additional 277 MW through its associate, Khulna Power Company Limited (KPCL). It also manages Bangladesh's second Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) and LNG import terminal, with a capacity of 500 mmcf/d. As a key player in the energy sector, SPI is exploring sustainable energy solutions in Bangladesh and Southeast Asia to meet the growing energy demands.
The company focuses on identifying opportunities to enhance its portfolio by developing both greenfield sites and acquiring existing power assets.
