Ramganj upazila, spanning an area of 169.31 square kilometers, holds the distinction of being the smallest upazila within Laxmipur district. Situated in a strategic location, it is bordered by Raipur upazila and Laxmipur Sadar upazila to the south, Chatkhil upazila of Noakhali district to the east, Shahrasti upazila and Hajiganj upazila of Chandpur district to the north, and Faridganj upazila of Chandpur district to the northwest and west.

Historically, Ramganj upazila was predominantly inhabited by the Hindu community, with an influential religious figure named Rama residing in the area. Local accounts suggest that the upazila derived its name, "Ramganj," from this revered religious leader.Geographically, the upazila is situated between 23.01° and 23.11° north latitude and 90.48° and 90.58° east longitude. Established in 1891, Ramganj upazila saw the formation of Manonnani Thana on July 24, 1983 AD.

Currently, Ramganj upazila comprises 1 municipality and 10 unions, with administrative activities overseen by the Ramganj police station. This upazila serves as an integral part of the administrative framework within Laxmipur district, playing a vital role in the region's socioeconomic landscape.
