Paribartan- Khulna

PARIBARTAN-Khulna is a non-government social development organization based in the southwest coastal region of Bangladesh, working for ensuring environmental conservation & rights though financial and cultural development of underprivileged coastal community.

The community based development approach of PARIBARTAN-Khulna was formed unofficially in 1998 to conserve the biodiversity of Sundarban after observing that the underprivileged vulnerable costal community is abusing god gifted natural forest for their livelihoods. This initiative was emerged upon seeing gradually expanded unemployed society and their only dependency on Sundarban for their survival. So, it was essential to develop an independent sustainable business model with the engagement of local community to create alternate livelihoods through local entrepreneurships. The idea of transforming the local villages as eco-villages was the pathway of controlling torture on the world famous natural heritage and the largest mangrove forest Sundarban. As a result the journey was started through promoting Eco-tourism & Eco-village Development Programme with the target of natural conservation. In 2000, PARIBARTAN-Khulna officially formed as an organization and started working broadly around southern part of Bangladesh as the concern of environmental rights, climate change, fundamental rights and social development issues.
