Opex & Sinha Textile Group, founded in 1984, has long been recognized as one of Asia's largest garment and textile manufacturers. With operations spread across 43 acres in Kanchpur, Narayanganj, just 20 kilometres from Dhaka, the group has played a significant role in Bangladesh's textile and garment industry for decades. However, due to a decline in work orders and financial challenges, the company recently announced plans to scale down its large-scale operations in Kanchpur. This strategic move is a response to the changing dynamics in the global textile and garment sector, and the group is taking the necessary steps to navigate these difficult times.

In line with Bangladesh's labour laws, Opex & Sinha Textile Group has assured all employees that their arrears and dues will be paid accordingly. The factory management is working closely with the labour ministry and the Department of Inspection for Factories and Establishments to ensure a smooth process for settling outstanding payments. The group has also communicated with key industry bodies, such as the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) and Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA), to coordinate its operations and maintain industry standards.

The decision to downsize reflects the group's commitment to responsible business practices and its respect for the welfare of its workers. Despite the challenges, Opex & Sinha Textile Group remains committed to supporting its employees during this transitional period and ensuring compliance with all legal requirements.
