Omar Farooq is a professional Chartered Accountant and Income Tax Lawyer. He is a Member of the Bangladesh Tax Lawyers’ Association and Dhaka Taxes Bar Association, National Board of Revenue (NBR), Dhaka, Bangladesh.
Omar Farooq passed Professional Examination-I (PE-I) in Nov-Dec 2007 under the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB). He also passed on ITP examination held on November 2007 under the National Board of Revenue (NBR). Besides, he completed three years course on 30 September 2009 from ACNABIN, Chartered Accountants, one of the top-ranked Chartered Accountancy firms in Bangladesh and an independent member of Baker Tilly International, UK.
Currently, Omar Farooq is working as an Assistant Manager, Finance at Habib Bank Ltd. His major responsibilities at the Bank are:
• Prepare and submit Tax & VAT for all types of returns regularly
• Responsible for overall taxation & VAT issues of the Bank including coordination with the regulatory authorities
• Provide TAX VAT Certificates & Salary Tax Certificate
• Responsible for finalizing pending assessments and disposal of old unsettled issues
• Process vendor payments including preparing EAPs and coordinating approvals
• Review the Audited Financial Statements for Taxation purpose of computing total taxable income and taxes thereon and find out the respective heads which are not allowed as per Income Tax Ordinance, 1984
• Corporate and individual tax planning and preparation of Company’s & Individual Income tax Return
