Donation on Education Sector
Exim Bank Limited
Exim Bank donates 2 percent of its annual profit in order to conduct Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). The bank focuses on the educational sector with a view to increasing the literacy rate of Bangladesh. It has started a scholarship program in 2006 to provide lifetime educational support to a selected number of meritorious students from low-income families. By 2008, it has found 1000 students from around 150 recognized educational institutions. Tk. 19.3 million has been already distributed in this program so far.
Exim Bank also supports the undergraduate and graduate students from the needy family by providing them a returnable amount of money. The students can enjoy this facility on a monthly basis; they are required to return the amount in a long-term installment, obviously after they enter in corporate sectors. They do not have to pay any extra amount. In December 2008, the bank has given Tk. 19.7 million to take care of such students.
Besides, the bank has donated Dhaka University and Chittagong University to set up computer labs so that the students receive computer knowledge.
