In Bangladesh since the early 1970s, CIMMYT has spearheaded multifaceted initiatives aimed at enhancing varietal improvements, crop management, natural resource conservation, and human resource development. Over nearly four decades, CIMMYT's collaborative efforts with researchers, extension workers, policymakers, and farmers have positioned wheat and maize as significant cereal crops in Bangladesh. This comprehensive approach has not only bolstered agricultural productivity and sustainability but has also strengthened food security and livelihoods, earning commendation from national agricultural authorities.
