In April 1982, Professor Ibrahim, a trailblazer in diabetes treatment in Bangladesh, unveiled his visionary plan to combat diabetes using a satellite system. Dr. Patrick Bipul Biswas was entrusted with spearheading initiatives in the northern regions from Bogra. Fortunately, Dr. Biswas found dedicated allies in Mr. Habibur Rahman Bhandari, Mr. Amzad Hossain Tazma, Mr. Jabedur Rahman, and others, who became instrumental in this endeavor.
Their collective efforts bore fruit when, in 1983, a clinic was established in a modest setting, inaugurated by Professor Ibrahim himself in October of the same year. Dr. Biswas nurtured it into a well-organized hospital by 1987. Despite facing challenges along the way, the hospital steadily progressed.
In 2003, Bogra Diabetic Somity took a significant leap by establishing its own 30-bed hospital on Nobabbari Road with the support of the People's Republic of Bangladesh. This marked a pivotal moment in expanding healthcare services.
Furthermore, to bolster general healthcare delivery, Bogra Diabetic Somity established the 30-bed Swasthoseba Hospital at Matidali and a sub-center at Talora in collaboration with the Government of the Netherlands in 2006. These initiatives underscored the commitment to enhancing healthcare accessibility and quality in the region.
