Sheikh Rasel Gastroliver Institute and Hospital

As per the government decision, this hospital is adding urgent medical facilities for coronavirus patients. This hospital has not yet started treating novel coronavirus patients. Coronavirus infected patients or suspected ones have been requested to go to the government designated hospitals for treatment.

This notice appears at the main gate of Sheikh Rasel Gastro Liver Institute and Hospital at Mohakhali in the capital. This is one of the hospitals which the government has selected for the treatment of coronavirus patients.

Director of the hospital, Faruk Ahmed, said there would be 8 beds in the ICU and a high dependency unit (HDU) would be set up next to the ICU. It would take another two or three days for the ICU to be fully prepared.

He said that though the hospital had 250 beds, the coronavirus patients needed to be placed at certain distance and so 160 to 170 beds were being prepared for the coronavirus patients.

The hospital still does not have facilities to detect coronavirus, but the health directorate has begun online training of the hospital staff.
