Chittagong Diabetic General Hospital is a remarkable hospital for treating diabetic patients at a fair expense. Its history is rooted in Bangladeshi culture and its struggle.
It should be mentioned that the Chittagong Diabetic General Hospital is built by a non-profit organization called Chittagong Diabetic Association (CDA), which works voluntarily to provide socio-medical services in the county; this association is registered with the Ministry of Social Welfare under the Society’s registration act, 1860.
Even though Chittagong Diabetic Association was founded in 1975, via the guideline of National Professor Dr. Muhammed Ibrahim and taking assistance from a selected committed social workers, physicians and civil servants of Chittagong City, it was inaugurated formally by then cabinet member representative (Health and Family Planning) the Govt. Of Bangladesh National Prof. Dr. Muhammed Ibrahim on 3rd May 1976.
Chittagong Diabetic General Hospital began its temporary service at Kapas Gola Municipal Community Center in 1975. After a few days of service, the hospital was moved to Chittagong General Hospital. Later on, it moved to Mehedibag and lastly at Enayet Bazar. With the assistance of the Bangladesh Railway department of the Govt. The Republic of Bangladesh, 1 acre land at Khulshi was allocated for Chittagong Diabetic Association in 1998. The hospital is monitored by the 27 member Executive Committee. At present, this can be considered as one of the largest Diabetic Hospital in Bangladesh.
