Museums play an important part in the preservation of local culture. A culture may be documented and remembered regardless of its future through diligent documentation and artifact preservation. It may also be shared and comprehended by people from various cultural backgrounds. There are different museums in Bangladesh. Some of them are memorial museums, some are art or science based, some are defense service’s history and even ethnicity or local culture based museums are there. Bangladesh National Museum operates under the Ministry of Cultural Affairs in Dhaka. It's in Dhaka's Shahbag neighborhood. The museum is well-organized, with exhibitions held chronologically in different sections such as ethnographic and ornamental art, history and classical art, natural history, and current and world culture. The museum also features a well-equipped conservation laboratory.
Timetable: Saturday to Wednesday 10.30 am to 5.00 pm, Friday: 3.30 pm to 7.30 pm.
The Museum remains closed on Thursday and on Government holidays.

In March 1987, a "Army Museum" was created at the entrance to Mirpur Cantonment in Dhaka as a significant component of Bangladesh's military legacy, and the museum was subsequently launched on November 26, 1987. The 'Army Museum' was relocated to Bijoy Sarani and renamed Bangladesh Military Museum under the patronage of former Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Mohammad Mostafizur Rahman, Bir Bikram, NDC, psc, between September 1997 and March 1998. For the time being, the museum was located in a two-story structure. The Armed Forces Division appointed a Board of Officers on 11 January 2020 to repair and upgrade the museum, with the Chief of General Staff as chairman and representatives from three services.
Timetable: Morning Exhibition: 10 Am To 1 Pm (Except Wednesday And Friday)
Afternoon Exhibition: 3 Pm To 6 Pm (Except Wednesday)
The Museum Will Remain Closed On Wednesdays And National Holidays.
The Liberation War Museum, opened on March 22, 1996, is located in the heart of Dhaka. There are four galleries that depict the people of Bangladesh's long struggle to establish their identity as a nation under the British regime, as well as their struggle for democracy, political and economic emancipation beginning in 1947 and culminating in their armed struggle during the nine-month long War of Liberation in 1971.
Timetable: Museum is open on all weekdays except Sunday between 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
In winter it is open between 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Bangladesh Air Force Museum opened to the public in October 2014 at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Agargaon, and Dhaka. It is located on the western side of the runway, adjacent to the Taltola gateway. Various deleted airships and gear have been kept inside its raised interior, including the flying machine that took part in our great Liberation War. The museum is located in a large open valley covered in green grass. The large wall is on both sides. People may observe many types of aircraft, helicopters, radar, and other equipment in the center.
Timetable: Weekdays (Monday-Thursday) from 2 PM to 8 PM.
On weekends: open from 10 AM to 8 PM, closed on Sundays.
The residence was under military control till June 10, 1981, following the barbaric execution of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his family members on August 15, 1975. On August 14, 1994, the home was dedicated as the "Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Memorial Museum." A board of trustees is constituted to oversee the museum and the Tungipara residence. Aside from the "Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Memorial Museum," the Trust also operates the "Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Memorial KPJ Special Hospital and Nursing College."
Timetable: The museum is open every morning from 10am to 5pm

The museum is closed on the occasion of 1st May, Vijaya Dashami, Shab-e-Barat, Shab-e-Kader, Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Azha.।

6. Bangladesh Bank Currency Museum/ Taka Museum
Taka Museum is Bangladesh's sole numismatics-focused museum. Its major goal is to display the wonderful history of Bangladesh's coins and cash from ancient to present times, as well as the various currencies of other nations throughout the world. It is located on the 1st floor of Bangladesh Bank Training Academy in Mirpur Road, Dhaka.
Timetable: Hours 11:00 - 17:00 (Saturday to Wednesday)

7. Ethnological Museum of Bangladesh
The Chittagong Ethnological Museum is Bangladesh's sole ethnological museum. It is located in Agrabad, Chittagong, and has exhibits about the history of Bangladesh's tribal people. The Ethnological Museum is a one-of-a-kind treasure trove of tribal culture and history from Bangladesh.

8.National Museum of Science and Technology
The Pakistani government established the National Museum of Science and Technology (NMST) in Dhaka, Bangladesh, on April 26, 1965, and it later became part of Bangladesh's Ministry of Science and Technology during the Bangladesh Liberation War. It began at the Dhaka Public Library and moved many times until finding a permanent home in 1981. The NMST is Bangladesh's sole science museum, and it organizes national scientific education programs.

Hason Raja's predecessor's residence has been turned into today's famous Museum of Rajas, also known as Hason Raja Museum. It is located in the center (Zinda Bazar) of the Sylhet City Corporation region in Bangladesh's Sylhet Division. The Educationist Dewan Talibur Raja Trust, named after Dewan Hason Raja's grandson, is in charge of upkeep and organization. The museum's purpose is to preserve and promote the rich history of Sylhet's renowned Raja Family, with the Zamindar and Mystic poet Dewan Hason Raja Chowdhury at the heart, as well as Sylhet Division's folk literature, folk music, and mystic poets. The museum raises public knowledge of Sylhet's rich cultural heritage.
Timetable: The Museum is open 6 days a week from 10 AM to 4 PM, except Fridays and national holidays (only 21 February & 16 December is an exception).
No ticket or entry fee is needed to enter into the two storied memorial complex.
Varendra Museum is a museum, research center, and major visitor destination in Rajshahi, Bangladesh, run by Rajshahi University. It is considered Bangladesh's oldest museum. It was the first museum in East Bengal when it opened in 1910. The museum began as the Varendra Anushandan Samiti (or Varendra Investigation Society) collection and was given its current name in 1919. The Rajahs of Rajshahi and Natore, particularly Prince Sharat Kumar Ray, gave their personal collections to the Varendra Museum. Varendra is referring to an ancient Janapada region that closely corresponds to modern-day northern Bangladesh.
Timetable: It stays open for guests five days a week except Thursday and Friday from 10 AM to 5 PM.
