Top 10 TV Channels of Bangladesh

Television has become an inseparable part of our daily life for a long time. The various contents broadcasted by different television channels have given us news, information and entertainment. Many TV shows have become a part of people’s emotion, due to the amazing content and popularity. Bangladesh, keeping up with the rest of the world, has developed a strong network of numerous broadcasting channels. Apart from the state-owned ones, there are now many other private owned TV channels. 

It is very tough to choose the best TV channels of Bangladesh, as all of them are doing great job in different aspects; but we’ve tried our best to list the top 10 Privately Owned TV broadcasting channels. Please note, we randomly picked 10 names to maintain a chronological order without any sort of judgement from our end!

1.     Channel I

Channel I is a Bangladeshi television network that is privately owned. It is owned by the Impress Group, one of Bangladesh's major corporations with holdings in media, medicines, aviation, and textiles. The Impress Group originally ventured beyond textile manufacture and into television in the early 1980s, led by Faridur Reza Sagor, who had previously worked as a freelancer for state-run Bangladesh Television (BTV). Impress Telefilm, which produced modest mini-series and one-off productions for BTV, was the first move into television. Channel I currently competes with a number of other domestic satellite channels. 

For the past decade, the channel has dominated the non-terrestrial channel market in Bangladesh. It now uses PanAm Sat to broadcast satellite transmissions, which reach much of Asia and portions of Australia. Channel I began broadcasting on October 1, 1999.

2.     ATN Bangla

The 15th of July, 1997, was one of the finest days in Bangladesh's history. The satellite station ATN Bangla delivered the first Bengali language transmission globally. The foresightful future advocate. Mahfuzur Rahman, with only a few young individuals engaged in day after day of hard effort and unattainable duties. ATN Bangla has been broadcasting programs of many kinds since its inception. From religious programming to sports, from recorded interviews to live telecasts, from domestic political news to international war news, ATN Bangla has aired a wide range of programs in order to appeal to a diverse range of consumers and interests. ATN Bangla is advancing with new programs and impartial news that combine respect and experience.

3.     Gazi TV (GTV)

Gtv Live is Bangladesh's most popular satellite and internet sports station. They broadcast every Bangladesh cricket board BCB matches live on television and online. Rabbitholebd, their official web partner, will live broadcast all Bangladesh cricket tiger matches on their YouTube account. People are interested in watching live cricket online in this digital age. That is why they are attempting to provide gtv live cricket online.

4.     NTV

With the tagline 'Somoyer Sathe Agamir Pothe,' which means 'going towards the future with time,' Alhaj Mohammad Mosaddak Ali founded Bangladesh's first automation-based private satellite television station International Television Channel Ltd on 3 July 2003. (NTV). NTV is one of Bangladesh's most prominent Bengali language TV stations, providing balanced and comprehensive news and entertainment programming. NTV broadcasts a comprehensive range of programming, including news bulletins, current events, chat shows, soap operas, educational, religious, and political programs, theatre, movies, reality shows, and other forms of entertainment. 

NTV broadcasts news and entertainment programming on various platforms, including television, the internet, and mobile devices (including apps). NTV also distributes its programs in the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, portions of Europe, the Middle East, and others.

5.     Somoy TV

Somoy TV is one of Bangladesh's first 24-hour news-oriented television networks. The channel was founded by a group of dedicated journalists. Somoy News maintains its operations with the goal of providing accurate and politically neutral news to audiences in Bangladesh and throughout the world. Somoy Media Limited (Somoy Television) is a private satellite television channel in Bangladesh that broadcasts 24-hour Bengali news. It has been commercially on the air since 17 April 2011, following the start of test transmission on 10 October 2010. Somoy Television strives to make a good difference in Bangladesh by providing important, impartial, and factual news and information. 

Somoy Television prioritises news and news material because it is primarily a news station. For emergency and live news, DSNG (Digital satellite news gathering) and Bonding Technology are employed. International news is provided by Reuters, APTN, and SNTV. Somoy Television is available in North America, certain European nations, the Middle East, South Africa, and some Asian countries. It may also be seen on the Internet using the web. Programs are also news-based, concentrating on news and information, as well as news analysis.

6.     Ekattor TV

The Meghna Group of Industries owns Ekattor, a Bangladeshi Bengali-language satellite and cable news television station that began broadcasting on June 21, 2012. Ekattor is Bangladesh's first TWO-WAY News and Current Affairs Television, featuring cutting-edge technology and programming that is second to none. It is Bangladesh's first Full HD television and a pioneer in many other elements of the television business.

7.     Bangla Vision

Banglavision is a Bangladeshi Bengali-language satellite and cable television station operated by Shamol Bangla Media Limited that began broadcasting on March 31, 2006. Its name is a combination of the words “bangla” and “television”. The channel formally launched on March 31, 2006, with the motto "Drishti Jure Desh," which translates as "Country across the vision," with the goal of introducing listeners to Bengali culture.

8.     Channel 9

Virgo Media Limited owns Station 9, a Bangladeshi Bengali-language satellite and cable television channel. It began testing transmission on April 8, 2011. The station mostly broadcasts sports and entertainment programming, however it also broadcast news until the collapse of its news segment in 2019. It had broadcast rights to the Bangladesh Premier League and La Liga.

9.     Channel 24

Station 24 is a Bangladeshi Bengali-language satellite and cable channel that broadcasts news and current affairs programs. It is owned by Times Media Limited, a part of the Ha-meem Group. The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission approved the channel in February 2010. It began testing transmissions on August 22, 2011, and became live on May 24, 2012. Its programming line used to be diverse, including drama, news, television films, music, sports, discussion programs, and many more, but it has since switched its concentration to mostly showing news and current affairs programming. Channel 24 has risen to prominence in Bangladesh within two years after its establishment.
