The Bangladesh Restaurant Owners Association (BROA) is a prominent organization representing the interests of restaurant owners across Bangladesh. On a recent Saturday, BROA made a public appeal to the government, urging permission to resume business operations from Sunday, with strict adherence to health guidelines. This request comes in response to the significant challenges faced by the restaurant sector due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The association highlighted the urgency of reopening eateries to prevent further economic strain and threatened to organize street protests if their plea was not addressed promptly.

In addition to seeking the resumption of operations, BROA also called for the provision of easy-term loans under SME financing from the incentive package announced by the government the previous year. This financial support is deemed essential for helping restaurant owners recover from the substantial losses incurred during the pandemic.

The demands were articulated during a press conference held at BROA's office in Purana Paltan, Dhaka. The event was presided over by BROA President Hazi Md Usman Gani, with key contributions from Secretary-General Imran Hasan, Vice President Shah Sultan Khokon, and First Joint-Secretary General Firoz Ahmed Suman, among others.
