The Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) in Khulna is a key government organization dedicated to realizing the Vision 2021: Digital Bangladesh initiative. Operating under the Department of Information and Communication Technology, the BCC plays a pivotal role in advancing the nation's standing in the realm of information and communication technology (ICT). Its multifaceted initiatives encompass government infrastructure development, the establishment of e-governance, connectivity, human resource development, ICT capacity enhancement, industry growth, and the promotion of Bengali language in ICT.
Founded in 1983 as the National Computer Committee, it underwent subsequent transformations, culminating in the establishment of the Bangladesh Computer Council under the Bangladesh Computer Council Act of 1990. The institution, initially under the President's Secretariat, later fell under the Ministry of Science and Technology and, subsequently, the Ministry of Science and Information and Communication Technology. Since December 2011, it has been under the purview of the newly formed Information and Communication Technology Department.
