Academia is maturing every year. Every academia year had been a notable one for Academia in many respects. In the academic field the students have maintained their high standards and have continued to be recognized as high achievers. Students who sit for O’Level and A’Level exams had been making ACADEMIA proud by their brilliant performance, as always. Many of them got The Daily Star Award and Edexcel High Achiever’s Award in recognition of their Excellence.
A couple of years back, Students of different age groups starting from the elementary level participated in Drawing & Creative Writing Competition arranged by New Vision (a real estate company). 15 students won this competition and got the opportunity to visit Nepal for three days. Not only that they also were fortunate enough to visit the Honourable Prime Minister of Nepal, Sushil Koirala, who was quite renowned for his simple life as two cell phones were his only asset.
Students performance in different competitions (essay, art, Math, spelling and quiz) had been quite satisfactory. School events (Annual Sports, Picnic, Science Fair, Math Olympiad, Boishakhi programme and Fair) are organised with enthusiastic participation of our students. The annual sports are held in which the students of different age groups show their performances in various items of sports.
A Science Fair and a Maths Olympiad are also being organized almost in every session. Reputed scientists from Dhaka University and other English medium schools are invited to judge the exhibits presented in the science fair by students of different classes. The judges are usually impressed by the exhibits and the presentations by the students. Students of different English medium schools participates in the Maths Olympiad. There is always a great deal of enthusiasm among the participants.
Our students have shown their talents not only in academic activities but also in extra curriculum activities like debates and Spelling Bee.
The Debating Club of Academia has been bringing laurels to the school, since several years. Teams from the school had been regularly winning Championship trophies in debating competitions in Dhaka. Academia Team represented Bangladesh in the SAARC Debate Competition among students of SAARC countries, held in New Delhi under the auspices of UNDP and Rajiv Gandhi Foundation. They were adjudged as the best speakers. The Debating team were also runners-up in a debate competition held in Malaysia. They also participated in worlds debating Championship.
The Management Committee and I would like to congratulate the debate team for their hard work and sincere efforts.
ACADEMIA management, teachers, and of course guardians have one goal – to guide students to become self-reliant, well-educated and responsible human being.
Finally, I thank the ACADEMIA faculty, guardians and staffs for their kind co-operation and lending their full support to the ACADEMIA management in making ACADEMIA what it is today !
