Samakal (Bengali: সমকাল samakal, \"current time, contemporary\") is a daily newspaper published in Dhaka, Bangladesh, in the Bengali language. On 31 May 2005, Samakal began writing. As of 2007, Samakal\'s circulation was about 200,000. The acting editor is Mustafiz Shafi, and S.M. As Executive Officer, Shahab Uddin. After Golam Sarwar\'s death, Mustafiz Shafi, the founding publisher, took over as Samakal\'s acting editor on 13 August 2018.
