Mugda Medical College is a newly established public Medical College inside the Dhaka Metropolitan city. Apart from the Medical College, a general hospital comprising of 500 beds is fully open, for which construction was began in 2006. In 2015 named as Mugda Medical College & Hospital . This institution has started academic journey by admitting 1st batch since 2015-2016. Currently a total number of 150 students are being enrolled in the Medical College, which includes students of the academic year 2015-2016, 2016-2017 and 2017-2018.The decision of establishing this medical college is a timely step towards providing quality services to the general allied population. 300 teachers were appointed for conducting academic activities and as well as hospital services.There are about 27 clinical departments and 8 preclinical and paraclinical departments are runned by experienced teachers and physicians.The hospital runs big outpatient along with specialist consultation like; Medicine, Paediatrics, Psychiatry, skin and venereal diseases, Clinical Pathology, General surgery, Otorhinolaryngology, Paediatric Surgery, Ophthalmology, Obstetrics, Gynaecology, Radiotherapy, Radiology and Dentistry .There are in an average 3000 patients are attend in outpatient departments and 500-550 patients are admitted in Inpatient department a day.As years passed, new treatment facilities kept being added and at present a Coronary care unit, Intensive care unit, a kidney dialysis unit, a Model Family Planning Centre, a Centre for Extended Program for Immunisation (EPI), DOT’S center are among the many facilities available to the in- and outpatients.Every year 100 intern doctors from different medical college are working in this hospital. From this Hospital the under privileged population receiving medical services at comparatively less prices. Along these, this medical college and hospital is aimed to build human force includes expert physicians and academicians.
