“The Daily Khowai” is a trusted and popular media house based in Habiganj Sadar, Sylhet, Bangladesh. It started its journey as a weekly newspaper called “Saptahik Khowai” on October 12, 1991. After a successful run of 14 years, it transitioned into a daily newspaper on October 25, 2005. The name “Khowai” was the preference of the late Alhaj Azizur Rahman, a distinguished businessman, social worker, and politician from Habiganj, who first envisioned the publication of a newspaper in 1978. However, due to the strict regulations of the then-autocratic Ershad government, he could not realize his dream. After his demise on September 14, 1990, and the subsequent fall of the Ershad government, “Saptahik Khowai” was finally launched. Today, “The Daily Khowai” is a well-respected publication that works for the well-being of society. It covers a wide range of topics, including local news, national issues, and social affairs. The newspaper has a strong online presence and enjoys a large readership. It continues to uphold the vision of its founder by providing reliable news and contributing to the socio-economic development of the region.
