DBC News is a prominent Bengali-language satellite and cable news television channel in Bangladesh, known for its comprehensive coverage of national and international news. Owned and operated by Dhaka Bangla Media & Communication Ltd., the channel has quickly gained a reputation for its commitment to journalism and its dynamic programming.The leadership of DBC News comprises experienced media professionals, with Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, former Media Adviser to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, serving as the chairman. The managing director is Sahidul Ahsan, and the CEO & Editor-in-Chief is Monjurul Islam. Their collective expertise has been instrumental in shaping the channel's direction and focus.In 2013, the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission granted Dhaka Bangla Media & Communication a license to broadcast "Dhaka-Bangla Television." The frequency allocation was received in January 2015, and the channel officially launched as DBC News on 21 September 2016. The launch was marked by a significant event attended by prominent figures such as Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed and Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu. The channel began its broadcast with a 10 am news segment.DBC News offers a diverse range of programs, catering to various interests. One of its flagship shows, "Rajkahon," is a primetime political talk show hosted by television journalist Sharmin Chowdhury. The show features insightful discussions on current political issues, providing viewers with in-depth analysis and commentary. Another popular program, "Choturnogo," is a weekly show that showcases individuals from the arts and entertainment field, giving audiences a glimpse into the creative world of Bangladesh.In December 2019, DBC News, along with three other Bangladeshi television channels, signed an agreement with UNICEF to air programming that addresses children's issues, highlighting the channel's commitment to social responsibility and public awareness.Through its diverse programming, experienced leadership, and commitment to delivering quality news, DBC News has established itself as a trusted source of information in Bangladesh.
