The inception of Birshreshtha Munshi Abdur Rouf Public College traces back to January 01, 1984, with a noble aim to provide education to the children of Border Guard of Bangladesh (BGB) personnel. Colonel Maqbul Haider, the then Director (Communication) of BGB, played a pivotal role in its establishment, supported by Major General R A M Golam Muktadir, the Director-General of Bangladesh Rifles. With humble beginnings, the institution started with just 150 students and 8 teachers, including the Headmaster and Assistant Headmaster, lacking proper infrastructure. Initially recognized as a Junior High School, it swiftly evolved into a High School by January 01, 1985. The first batch of only 23 students (comprising Science and Humanities streams) appeared for the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) Examination in 1987.On September 03, 1994, the school attained the esteemed status of 'Bangladesh Rifles College,' inaugurating its College Section on November 16, 1994, under the auspices of Major General Anwar Hossain BP, PSC. Government recognition followed suit on July 03, 1995. Subsequently, under the leadership of Major General Ejaj Ahmed Chowdhury, the Morning Shift commenced on March 20, 1995, followed by the Evening Shift on May 04, 1995, which later merged with the Morning Shift. The institution's journey witnessed further evolution with the establishment of a Degree Section in August 07, 1998, albeit for a limited period. Notably, in 2004, the college was renamed in honor of Munshi Abdur Rouf, one of Bangladesh's revered heroes (Birshresthas) who made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation's freedom.
