The Bangladesh Veterinary Council is a government regulatory agency under the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock in Bangladesh that regulates veterinary education and veterinarian registration. In 1961, veterinarian students began calling for an official body, and in 1974, the Bangladesh Veterinary Association was established to help them achieve their goal. The Bangladesh Veterinary Council was created in 1982 after the Bangladesh Parliament passed the Bangladesh Veterinary Council Act. The Bangladesh Veterinary Council Act of 2016 amended it. The council was further amended through the Bangladesh Veterinary Council Bill, 2019.
