Apon Nibas Briddhasrom is a sanctuary dedicated to the care and well-being of elderly and oppressed women in Bangladesh. Founded in January 2010 by Sayeda Selina Shelly, a tireless advocate for women's rights, the institution emerged from her lifelong dedication to improving the lives of women. Through her activism, Sayeda Selina Shelly encountered numerous women who had suffered from neglect, abuse, and poverty, inspiring her to create a safe haven for those in need.As an establishment of Apon Nibas Briddhasrom Welfare Society, the center provides shelter, food, and medical care for elderly women who are often rescued from the streets of Dhaka and other parts of the country. The organization is registered as a Trust in the Tejgaon Circle and under the Society Registration Act of 1860, ensuring its legal compliance and legitimacy in serving the needs of vulnerable women.The residents at Apon Nibas Briddhasrom are typically found in desperate conditions, suffering from mental or physical illnesses, or both. These women are often brought to the center through referrals from police, hospital authorities, or concerned citizens. The dedicated staff and volunteers work tirelessly to ensure that the women receive proper care, including nutritious meals, medical treatment, and psychological support.Since its inception, Apon Nibas Briddhasrom has provided assistance to over 229 women, offering them not only physical sustenance but also a sense of dignity and security. The facility currently accommodates 90 residents, with a compassionate team that attends to their daily needs. The organization has also played a significant role in the final rites for those who have passed away, having buried or cremated 84 women. Additionally, Apon Nibas Briddhasrom has successfully rehabilitated over 55 women, reuniting them with their families or finding new homes for them.Apon Nibas Briddhasrom stands as a testament to the power of compassion and the impact that a single vision can have on countless lives. By providing a safe and nurturing environment for women in need, the institution continues to honor its founder's legacy and work toward a society where every woman can find safety, respect, and care.
