Idris Ahmad Mia, a visionary leader from British India's Malda district, dreamt of bringing higher education to his village.  In the early 20th century, he established primary and secondary schools in Dadanch. However, his true ambition lay in founding a college. The opportunity arose with the 1935 India Act.  Idris, a close associate of Bengal's Chief Minister Sher Bangla A. K. Fazlul Haque, leveraged his political influence.  In 1938, with Fazlul Haque's support, Idris secured land from Matwalli Begum Shamsunnahar and established Adina College. The college was named after both the village (Adina) and the Chief Minister (Fazlul Haque). Initially, Adina College offered higher secondary education in ten subjects, including Bengali, English, and Mathematics.  Over the years, the college expanded its reach.  In 1964, it introduced undergraduate programs in Arts and Commerce.  Science courses followed in 1967, culminating in the establishment of a Bachelor of Science program in 1978.  Finally, in 2006, affiliation with Bangladesh's National University allowed Adina College to offer Honors degrees in various disciplines. From its humble beginnings, Adina Fazlul Haque College has grown into a prominent institution, serving generations of students and honoring the vision of its founder, Idris Ahmad Mia.
